Overview

Scott Maberry is an experienced international trade lawyer who helps companies throughout the world get business done across borders.

He helps clients understand and comply with complex regulations on inbound and outbound trade in goods and services. He also defends clients in government investigations and private disputes related to international trade.

In addition, as a member of the World Economic Forum Expert Network, he advises the WEF community in the areas of global risk, international trade, artificial intelligence (AI), and the influence of ethics and values on business and trade relationships.

Scott advises clients on a full range of international trade laws, including:

  • Civil and military export controls, including ITAR and EAR
  • Anti-boycott controls
  • Economic sanctions and embargoes
  • Anti-money laundering (AML)
  • Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)
  • Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA)
  • National security
  • Antidumping and countervailing duty (AD/CVD) matters
  • Customs law
  • Foreign direct investment controls, including CFIUS approvals
  • Anti-terrorism controls
  • Nuclear export controls

Scott represents clients before the U.S. Department of Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry & Security (BIS), the Department of Commerce Import Administration, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the International Trade Commission (ITC), the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS) and federal courts and grand jury proceedings.

He is a founding member of the firm’s Organizational Integrity Group.

Scott hosts the Nota Bene podcast, a bimonthly series for multinational businesses providing insights on international legal and policy developments. The podcast reaches listeners in 110 countries and has exceeded 38,000 downloads. It is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Amazon Music.

In his free time, Scott enjoys playing basketball and composing music.
