Overview

Mike Heins is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm's San Diego (Del Mar) office.

As a registered patent lawyer, Mike's practice focuses on patent and trademark litigation before federal courts, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the International Trade Commission (ITC). He also advises clients on due diligence and IP portfolio issues.

Mike counsels clients to achieve positive outcomes in an efficient manner. He often represents clients at trial; takes and defends depositions; manages discovery; develops litigation claims and defenses; and drafts motions as well as appellate briefs. Mike litigates disputes involving mobile phones (LTE/Bluetooth standards and implementation patents), semiconductors, software, online transactions, food packaging machines, online gaming, 3D projection systems, mobile payment applications, paper shredders, vacuum cleaning machines, pet carriers, split-top beds and mobile phone cases.

Mike recently represented a system-on-a-chip, semiconductor company before the ITC regarding alleged infringement of three patents. The Commission returned a finding of no violation based on non-infringement of each of the asserted patents and invalidity as to certain asserted claims.
