Esperance Becton

Overview

Esperance Becton is an associate in the Corporate Practice Group in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and a member of the Healthcare Industry team. 

Esperance advises healthcare clients, including hospitals and health systems, provider groups, technology companies, telehealth providers, and commercial insurers on a range of healthcare regulatory and transactional matters. Esperance supports healthcare industry clients in transactional matters that include joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions. Her regulatory representative scope of practice includes issues involving HIPAA/data privacy and security, regulatory compliance, interoperability and information blocking, and state and federal fraud, waste and abuse laws. Esperance counsels telehealth providers on federal and state laws concerning scope of coverage, reimbursement, consent, licensure, privacy and documentation requirements. Esperance's practice is proudly centered on the evolving technological advancements in healthcare, as she also supports the Sheppard Healthy AI initiative focused on legal issues related to the use of AI in healthcare, including governance, contractual matters, and data related issues. 

Esperance brings a breadth of healthcare industry knowledge to her client work due to her broad background in healthcare. Prior to private practice, Esperance worked as a Health Law Fellow at MedStar Health, the largest healthcare system in Maryland and the Washington, D.C. region, and was a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
