Elyssa counsels employers on day-to-day and high-stakes workplace issues, delivering practical guidance shaped by her experience litigating and investigating employment matters. She partners closely with leadership and HR teams to understand business goals, assess risk, and implement tailored solutions that are both compliant and operationally feasible.
She advises employers on a wide range of counseling matters, including hiring and termination decisions, leaves of absence and accommodations, employee discipline, wage and hour compliance, and WARN-related planning. Her background defending employers in single-plaintiff, class, and PAGA litigation informs her ability to anticipate how decisions and documentation will be evaluated in disputes.
She also handles proactive measures, including drafting and updating employee handbooks and workplace policies, conducting wage and hour audits, and delivering anti-harassment training.
In addition, Elyssa has particular experience conducting prompt, thorough, and well-documented neutral investigations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other alleged misconduct. She is an Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder (“AWI-CH”). This reflects completion of AWI’s ANAB-accredited program regarding the knowledge and skills necessary to perform neutral workplace investigations and passing scores on three assessments.
Elyssa regularly writes on developments in employment law, with articles published in Law360 and the California ALERT Newsletter.
