Overview

Babak Yousefzadeh represents employers on a full range of employment law matters, with a focus on litigation and class actions. He helps companies navigate complex statutory requirements, manage workplace risk and develop effective litigation-avoidance and compliance strategies grounded in a deep understanding of their operations and business goals. He resolves disputes efficiently—both in and out of court—and has taken multiple jury trials to verdict.

Known for his deep understanding of California employment law, Babak provides counsel and representation involving wage and hour issues; Labor Code violations; discrimination, harassment and retaliation or whistleblower claims; breach of contract disputes; wrongful termination; independent-contractor status; workplace investigations; discipline and grievance procedures; workplace violence; and other statutory and contractual obligations. His practice spans single-plaintiff, multi-plaintiff and class-action proceedings before state and federal courts and administrative bodies.

Babak defends employers at trial, arbitration and administrative hearings—including before the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement—and has secured complete defense jury verdicts, arbitration awards and administrative rulings.

Beyond litigation, Babak advises employers on compliance and workplace best practices, implementing proactive strategies that reduce risk and strengthen organizational culture. He conducts respect-in-the-workplace (such as harassment- and discrimination-prevention) and compliance trainings, and helps clients maintain update policies and agreements, such as employment and separation agreements, arbitration agreements, employee handbooks and regulatory-based policies.

Babak also counsels unionized employers operating where collective-bargaining agreements intersect with state employment laws, ensuring consistent and compliant workforce-management practices and assertion of preemption defenses in litigation, where appropriate.

In his free time, Babak enjoys reading, traveling and outdoor activities.
