Overview

Angeles Cassin is a skilled commercial litigator, trial lawyer and adviser adept at learning how each client’s business operates in order to provide guidance that is timely, efficient and effective. She regularly defends companies against claims of discrimination, retaliation and unpaid wages. Clients also rely on her to protect confidential information and address trade secret misappropriation allegations.

Working as a partner to in-house counsel and human resources teams, Angeles helps companies proactively reduce their litigation risk. She collaborates closely with employers on compliance with federal, state and local laws, policy drafting, employment agreements and best practices for corrective actions and documentation.

Angeles has achieved complete defense verdicts and case dismissals in discrimination, retaliation and accommodation claims. Her successes also include defeating wage and hour class certifications, reducing Department of Labor penalties and guiding clients through Department of Justice investigations related to Form I-9 and E-Verify.

In her commercial litigation practice, Angeles handles disputes involving non-compete agreements, trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty and contract claims. Angeles is fluent in Spanish, which she often puts to use in commercial disputes where documents, witnesses and/or clients require fluency in Spanish.

Employment Litigation

  • Secured complete dismissal of race, color, national origin, and disability discrimination and retaliation claims as lead counsel based on arguments made at final pretrial conference on behalf of Fortune 100 company.
  • Member of trial team which secured complete defense verdict on behalf of Fortune 100 company against claims of disability discrimination, failure to accommodate, and retaliation under federal and California law.
  • Member of trial team in defense of wage and hour exemption from overtime claims.
  • Member of trial team that obtained complete victory in pursuing claims of breach of fiduciary duty and theft against client’s former Vice President.
  • Defended against numerous single-plaintiff cases alleging discrimination and retaliation under Title VII, including same-sex discrimination and retaliation claims.
  • Successfully opposed conditional certification of wage and hour case involving claims of misclassification and unpaid overtime.

Commercial Litigation

  • First-chaired complete jury trial verdict for the defense in breach of contract case brought by consumer against large bank.
  • First-chaired complete jury trial win in pro bono lawsuit on behalf of non-profit which provides housing for homeless veterans.
  • Defended company against claims of trademark infringement involving gray market goods.
  • Represented numerous companies in lawsuits involving breach of non-compete covenants and misappropriation of trade secrets.
