Jason Kearnaghan, co-leader of the firm's Labor and Employment practice group, is an experienced trial attorney who represents employers in state and federal courts in all phases of labor and employment litigation. His practice covers a wide range of disputes, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and whistleblower claims. A substantial portion of his work focuses on defending employers in complex wage and hour class, collective and representative actions.
Advising clients on labor-management relations is also central to Jason’s practice. He represents employers in union organizing campaigns, collective bargaining negotiations, elections and grievance arbitrations, and provides comprehensive guidance in defending against unfair labor practice charges.
Jason regularly appears before state and federal administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the U.S. Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the California Civil Rights Department.
Before joining Sheppard, Jason practiced business litigation in the healthcare industry, handling contractual disputes and managed care liability matters for Fortune 500 healthcare service providers and subsidiaries. Earlier in his career, he served as a trial attorney in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he prosecuted criminal cases.
