Taryn McPherson is an associate in the Business Trial Practice Group in the firm’s Los Angeles office and a member of the firm’s Healthcare team, Trade Secrets team, and Women in Healthcare Leadership Collaborative.
Taryn represents clients in complex business disputes across the healthcare, hospitality, banking, environmental, and technology sectors. She has extensive experience litigating class actions and complex claims involving breach of contract, negligence, fraud, trade secret misappropriation, and other business torts, as well as allegations of healthcare fraud under the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and other regulatory and compliance regimes. Taryn has examined key fact witnesses at a variety of adjudicative proceedings, taken and defended fact and expert depositions, and drafted and argued a wide range of motions from the outset of litigation through trial and arbitration.
During law school, Taryn was selected for the USC National Moot Court team, awarded best brief at the Chicago Bar Association Moot Court Competition, named Runner-Up Best Oralist at the Michael T. Thorsnes International Commercial Arbitration Competition, and selected to compete in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot held in Vienna, Austria. In addition, Taryn held a supervisory role in the USC Intellectual Property and Technology Law Clinic, where she counseled budding filmmakers, artists, game developers, entrepreneurs and nonprofits. She also worked with the clinic director to spearhead an intake initiative focused on women- and minority-owned businesses, and maintains that focus through her pro bono work at Sheppard.
