Sara Butterfield is a patent agent in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm's Chicago office.
Dr. Butterfield assists attorneys in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the biotech and chemical spaces.
She graduated from UNC Chapel Hill where her research focused on the role of noncovalent interactions in protein folding and binding in peptide model systems. As a postdoc, she investigated the role of post-translational modifications in a protein implicated in Parkinson's disease at the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.
