Michael Heimbold is a strategic counselor to luxury brands and an accomplished first-chair trial lawyer in complex commercial and intellectual property litigation.
For more than 30 years, he has advised designers and entertainment companies on protecting and monetizing brand assets, structuring key business relationships and trying high-stakes disputes involving business control, fiduciary claims and valuable intellectual property.
Advising clients on global trademark prosecution and portfolio management, Michael integrates brand protection into broader business strategy. He manages oppositions and enforcement matters, counsels on trademark, copyright and design patent protection and provides ongoing intellectual property and other guidance as outside general counsel.
Clients rely on Michael to negotiate and structure licensing, production, financing and other commercial agreements central to brand expansion. Acting as outside general counsel to many of these companies, he aligns intellectual property protection with operational and strategic decision-making.
Michael is also a first-chair trial lawyer who handles complex commercial and intellectual property disputes nationwide. His litigation practice includes trademark, copyright and design patent matters, as well as breach of contract, fiduciary duty and founder disputes. He regularly seeks and defends emergency injunctive relief when business operations or brand value are at risk.
In addition to his brand-focused practice, Michael represents clients in general commercial litigation involving corporate control, business torts and contractual conflicts. His experience spans jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations and appeals, allowing clients to move from preventive counseling to courtroom advocacy with continuity of strategy and counsel.
Outside the office, Michael enjoys spending time with his family and staying active through mountain biking, surfing and pickleball.
