Jared Nagley advises clients in a variety of industries on high-stakes antitrust and competition matters, drawing on extensive experience from both private practice and government service. He also serves as antitrust lead for Sheppard’s premier 230-lawyer Healthcare industry team. He represents companies in complex merger reviews, government investigations and litigation before the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, state attorneys general and international competition authorities.
Jared counsels clients across a range of industries on antitrust risks arising from mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic business arrangements. He also helps companies develop and implement antitrust compliance programs designed to identify and mitigate enforcement and litigation risk. In addition, Jared represents clients in FTC and state attorneys general investigations involving consumer protection issues, including post-employment restrictions and alleged deceptive business practices.
Before joining Sheppard, Jared spent eight years in the FTC’s Bureau of Competition, where he led investigations and litigation matters throughout the United States in a variety of industries, including healthcare (hospital systems, medical device companies and large physician groups), life sciences, technology, consumer packaged goods and industrial products. He also has experience coordinating with state and foreign competition authorities in parallel investigations and proceedings. Jared served as lead attorney in several significant enforcement matters that resulted in federal appellate victories, negotiated settlements requiring substantial divestitures and abandoned transactions following FTC challenges. The FTC recognized Jared’s contributions with the Janet D. Steiger Award.
Jared is a frequent speaker on antitrust and healthcare competition issues for the American Bar Association, the American Health Law Association, the New York State Bar Association and other organizations. He has also served as a guest lecturer for graduate students in healthcare economics.
