Overview

As co-author of California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) — Litigation and Compliance Manual – 4th Edition, Tyler Johnson is a seasoned employment litigator and trusted advisor who represents clients in complex wage and hour disputes throughout California and in multistate matters. He counsels businesses of all sizes—from closely held companies to national employers—with particular depth in the healthcare, retail and gaming industries.

Tyler has extensive experience defending employers through every stage of the litigation process, from prelitigation disputes and internal investigations to class certification proceedings, dispositive motions, trial and appeal. In addition to wage and hour class actions and representative actions brought under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), his practice includes high-stakes employment litigation involving claims of discrimination, harassment and retaliation. He has a strong record of defeating class certification, securing summary judgment and prevailing at trial and arbitration. Tyler has also successfully argued appeals before both the California Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

In addition to his litigation practice, Tyler serves as a strategic advisor to companies seeking to minimize employment-related risk and maintain compliance in an increasingly complex regulatory environment. He regularly assists employers with drafting and implementing employment policies, conducting workplace audits and providing management training tailored to their individual operational realities and business objectives—all aimed at protecting his clients and avoiding costly litigation.
