Overview

Dr. Shannon Petersen defends businesses in class actions, consumer protection disputes and other complex litigation, advising clients on litigation risk, consumer compliance and strategies to efficiently resolve high-exposure matters involving statutes such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), California’s Automatic Renewal Law (ARL) and other federal and state consumer protection laws.

Focusing on consumer class action defense and consumer compliance litigation, Shannon represents clients in disputes involving privacy claims, call-recording statutes, consumer finance issues, unfair competition claims and related business torts. His practice spans healthcare, financial services, retail, real estate, property management and energy matters, with particular experience representing businesses that interact directly with consumers at scale.

Strategic motion practice is a central part of Shannon’s approach to litigation. He regularly defeats class certification, compels arbitration, enforces class action waivers and obtains dismissals or summary judgment in consumer litigation. Drawing on experience handling matters through trial, arbitration and final adjudication, Shannon helps clients reduce litigation exposure efficiently and position cases for favorable resolution.

Beyond consumer class actions, Shannon represents clients in complex commercial disputes involving breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, defamation and related business claims.

Outside the office, Shannon enjoys spending time with his family, swimming and walking his dog.
