Overview

Shin Hahn is a litigator and arbitration practitioner who represents domestic and foreign clients in complex commercial disputes, cross-border disputes and international arbitrations. Shin is a key member of the firm’s International Arbitration group, and her work centers on global multinational companies, as well as small companies in domestic and cross-border disputes.

Shin has extensive experience advising clients in international arbitration proceedings held under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR).

Shin’s international disputes experience provides valuable insight into the business and legal challenges that foreign companies face when operating in the U.S. Educated in both South Korea and the United States, she is a native Korean speaker who frequently represents Korean companies on a wide range of U.S. legal matters.

Beyond understanding how the laws of different countries can be in conflict and devising strategies to navigate such conflicts, Shin is sensitive to how cultural norms affect the way business is done. She analyzes and explains business and legal disputes in a way that moves past cultural rigidities and opens a path to resolution, whether through negotiation or litigation.

Shin also advises clients regarding white collar investigations and regulatory proceedings, notably financial institutions facing regulatory inquiries from the Federal Reserve, the New York Department of Financial Services and other regulatory authorities.

Shin co-chairs the firm’s New York Recruiting Committee and leads the Diversity and Inclusion Attorney Network in the New York office.

In her free time, Shin enjoys spending time with her husband, two kids and corgi, going to concerts and working out.
