Max DiBaise is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm’s Silicon Valley office. Max focuses his practice on intellectual property matters, including multi-district patent and trade secret litigation, PTAB proceedings, and ITC proceedings. His practice involves wide-ranging technologies, including multimedia streaming, autonomous vehicles, computer software, e-commerce, medical devices, and data center technologies.
Max has an active pro bono practice, including in immigration, voter rights, and constitutional matters. Max recently secured a precedential ruling on summary judgment related to gender-based discrimination against involuntarily confined patients in the California Department of State Hospitals. Max was also part of the team that filed suit to enjoin and declare unlawful San Mateo County Superior Court’s civil assessment program, leading to an agreement to stop imposing the burdensome late fees and to passage of new legislation that eliminated more than $500 million in outstanding civil assessment debts.
In law school, Max externed for Judge Illston of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Max also competed in mock trial and moot court throughout college and law school, and he continues to volunteer as a judge for mock trial competitions.
