Matthew Rebelo is an associate in the Corporate & Securities Practice Group in the firm's Del Mar (San Diego) office.
Matthew specializes in corporate law – advising and representing buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions in a variety of industries and assisting investors and business people in the negotiating, structuring, navigating and closing of their transactions. His practice also includes venture capital and private equity financings, joint ventures, corporate governance, equity and executive compensation and matters relating to the formation and structure of business entities. Matthew has a pragmatic, business-minded approach toward advising clients about the often complex, sophisticated issues that arise in corporate transactions.
Prior to joining Sheppard, Matthew spent 13 years in the legal profession in Johannesburg, South Africa, practicing initially as an attorney and then, as a member of the Johannesburg Bar and Advocate (Barrister) of the High Court of South Africa. In South Africa his clients included large national and multi-national companies and banking institutions which he represented in negotiation, arbitration and litigation proceedings.
