Mark Bhuptani is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the firm’s New York office.
Mark’s practice focuses on patent litigation across all phases of the litigation lifecycle. He represents clients in matters involving a range of technologies, including biomedical devices, pharmaceuticals, mobile devices, semiconductors, software, online transactions, mobile payment applications, and consumer electronics. Drawing on his chemical background, Mark is well-versed in chemistry-related innovations, and he brings that same technical rigor to matters across other technological fields.
Mark has extensive experience preparing patent cases for trial in federal court. He takes and defends depositions, manages discovery, develops litigation claims and defenses, and drafts motions and appellate briefs. He has experience preparing patent cases for trial in federal court, representing clients at Markman hearings, substantive motion hearings, and pre-trial proceedings. Mark also counsels and advocates for foreign companies in U.S. patent litigation, leveraging his language skills to bridge communication across jurisdictions. Mark also maintains an active pro bono practice helping LGBTQ asylum seekers.
Prior to joining the firm, Mark served as Senior Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law and as an executive member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society. He also worked in the Brooklyn Law Incubator and Policy Clinic, where he provided pro bono patent prosecution services. Additionally, Mark externed for judges in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division.
