Overview

Lorie Soares Lazarus advises institutional investors, lenders, borrowers and real estate owners on complex commercial real estate transactions nationwide, including financings, acquisitions and matters across the full lifecycle of real estate assets.

With an MBA and professional experience in accounting and finance for high-tech companies before becoming a lawyer, Lorie approaches transactions with a business-oriented perspective that resonates with sophisticated actors throughout the real estate industry. Clients rely on that business and financial fluency when structuring deals, negotiating transaction terms and evaluating the operational and economic implications of deal documents.

Lorie advises both lenders and borrowers across a wide range of real estate finance matters, including secured and unsecured lending, intercreditor arrangements, lender-group structures, restructurings, workouts, deeds-in-lieu, foreclosures and REO ownership and disposition. Experience on both sides of the table allows her to anticipate issues, negotiate effectively and craft practical solutions that move transactions forward.

Beyond the finance dimensions of commercial real estate transactions, Lorie also advises clients on the broader ownership and operation of real estate assets. She counsels clients on acquisitions, leasing and ground leasing, build-to-suit and forward purchase transactions, and management and operational matters that arise after closing, including asset management and property management related matters. That lifecycle perspective enables her to help clients structure transactions with a clear understanding of how assets will be owned, financed, operated and managed over time.

Having led hundreds of transactions ranging from small investments to deals exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars, Lorie focuses on understanding each client’s business objectives and delivering practical, efficient solutions that support long-term business strategies.

Outside the office, Lorie is a devoted sports fan, particularly professional football and hockey, and has long been a San Francisco 49ers season ticket holder. She also volunteers with Cake4Kids, making personalized birthday cakes for children in foster care and other underserved youth.
