Lisa Yun Pruitt advises companies on managing consumer disputes, including class actions, and offers guidance on consumer communications and compliance issues that may lead to litigation. With nearly 13 years of experience in telemarketing and marketing regulations under the TCPA, she focuses on reducing risk while maintaining business operations. Her work also includes addressing consumer finance and credit-reporting challenges.
Lisa works with clients across industries that engage in significant consumer-facing activities, often on a regional or national scale, with a strong presence in California. She provides counsel on TCPA compliance, including reviewing scripts, drafting policies and consent language, and ensuring required disclosures are met. Her approach centers on identifying litigation risks early, simplifying internal procedures and enhancing defensibility.
Her practice spans defending claims under federal and state telemarketing laws, debt collection laws, credit reporting laws, unfair/deceptive/abusive practices laws, false advertising laws, and the CLRA. She also handles disputes involving breach of contract, fraud and other business disputes.
Lisa combines litigation insight with practical compliance strategies, helping clients identify potential risks, implement defensible processes and pursue early resolutions when possible. If disputes escalate, she focuses on building a strong factual record and developing effective defenses. Her more than 10 years of experience in bankruptcy law also enhances her litigation judgment.
Before joining Sheppard, Lisa served as a Judicial Law Clerk to Chief Justice F. Michael Kruse of the High Court of American Samoa. This role sharpened her ability to evaluate legal arguments, focus on key decision points and write with clarity. She also previously contributed to the San Diego office’s Diversity and Inclusion Working Group Committee.
Outside of work, Lisa loves visiting her family in Hawaii, snowboarding with her husband and their two kids, and spending time with her Maltese/Shih Tzu.
