John Woodrum supports Sheppard’s private equity and capital markets teams which represent portfolio companies, sponsors, startups and public companies through the full transaction life cycle. He contributes to venture financings, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets matters, including IPOs, follow-on and secondary offerings, registered direct offerings and uplistings. He also assists with Exchange Act reporting, including periodic reports, proxy statements and Section 13 and Section 16 filings.
John brings familiarity with private capital and public markets to his work. He helps deal teams evaluate how early-stage decisions can affect future liquidity events, portfolio company exits, including through add-on acquisitions and buy-and-build strategies, with an eye toward aligning execution with longer-term objectives and public company readiness.
Before joining the firm, John worked in business operations, including process and supply chain roles in the semiconductor industry, and gained exposure to investment and operating considerations that inform private capital decisions through experience with a family office. He also gained in-house experience in the legal department of a Fortune 500 company, developing exposure to how large organizations approach business and operational decisions. That background informs his understanding of how transactions can affect supply chains, margins, day-to-day management and capital allocation.
John maintains a close watch on macroeconomic trends, geopolitical developments and market cycles, bringing a broader perspective to bear as teams advise clients on growth initiatives and strategic planning.
