Carolyn Carey

Overview

Carolyn Carey is an associate in the Business Trial Practice Group in the firm’s Los Angeles office.

Carolyn’s practice encompasses a wide range of commercial and business litigation matters in state and federal court where she represents insurers and financial institutions in high-exposure business and consumer disputes. Her experience includes defending against class actions, breach of contract and extra-contractual claims, and allegations of unfair business practices and fraud.

Before transitioning to the legal field, Carolyn developed a diverse background in the insurance and risk management industry, bringing a practical, business-oriented perspective to her litigation practice. She previously served as an advisor at Marsh & McLennan, advising multinational corporations on risk transfer strategies and regulatory compliance across more than 80 jurisdictions. She also worked at Liberty Mutual, where she handled claims for corporate clients and underwrote commercial insurance policies for ocean marine risks.

While in law school, Carolyn served as an extern at the California Department of Insurance and to the Honorable Jacqueline H. Nguyen of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She also served as a research editor for the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review and competed in the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition. She graduated magna cum laude and was recognized as a Sayre Macneil Scholar.
