Brian Gurtman advises institutional investors, lenders and developers on complex real estate transactions across the United States. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience rooted in the New York City market, he structures financings, acquisitions, recapitalizations and joint ventures for large-scale real estate investments. His practice spans the full capital stack, including mortgage, mezzanine and preferred equity transactions.
Working across real estate capital markets transactions, Brian structures and negotiates financings involving mortgage debt, mezzanine loans and preferred equity investments. His experience includes recapitalizations, restructurings and portfolio-level transactions involving institutional assets and large development projects.
Brian represents institutional lenders, investors, private equity funds, real estate investment managers, REITs, developers and family offices. The transactions he handles often involve acquisitions, dispositions and financings of multifamily, office, retail, industrial and mixed-use properties throughout the United States.
Clients rely on his experience negotiating joint ventures and investment platforms used to acquire, finance and operate real estate portfolios. This work frequently involves aligning investor and sponsor interests while structuring governance, capital contributions and exit strategies for large-scale developments and operating assets.
Brian also advises clients on major commercial leasing transactions, including headquarters leases, build-to-suit developments and large office and retail projects in Manhattan and other U.S. markets.
