Sheppard is pleased to announce that partner Jonathan D. Moss is rejoining the firm’s Business Trial practice group in Los Angeles. Moss returns after serving as president and general counsel of boutique family office Point Break Capital LLC (PBC), where he oversaw investments in technology, entertainment and real estate.

An experienced commercial and business litigator, Moss has deep experience representing clients in business divorce and buy-out proceedings, M&A post-closing disputes, private equity and venture capital disputes, entertainment and sports litigation, class action defense and securities litigation. He brings significant family office and private wealth expertise, having served as general counsel for PBC, overseeing the analysis of prospective investments and handling legal, tax and compliance matters. Moss also managed outside counsel in high-profile business disputes in trial court and appellate proceedings in New York and internationally. In addition, he handled legal work for PBC’s portfolio companies, including health and fitness software company Prism Labs and award-winning film and television production company Sight Unseen.

“Jonathan served as a well-respected member of our Business Trial practice for many years, and we are thrilled to welcome him back to the firm,” ¬¬said Luca Salvi, chair of Sheppard. “As we continue to expand our litigation practice with top-tier trial lawyers, Jonathan brings valuable experience as a business owner, general counsel and trusted advisor to companies navigating the complexities of business restructurings and dissolutions.”

“Jonathan is the lawyer you want in your corner when business partnerships dissolve or deals don’t go as planned,” said Robert Friedman, co-leader of the Business Trial practice group. “Throughout his career, he has built strong, lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike, which will continue to serve him well as he steps back into his role at the firm.”

“I look forward to reconnecting with my colleagues and developing practical, creative solutions for our clients,” said Moss. “My recent experience as in-house counsel and a business owner has broadened my perspective and informed the way I approach each matter, and I’m eager to leverage that background in my practice.”

Moss earned his B.S. from Cornell University and his J.D. from the USC Gould School of Law.
