Sheppard represented the John G. Shedd Aquarium in the unprecedented rescue of beluga whales from the now-shuttered Marineland aquatic park in Niagara Falls, Canada. As part of the international rescue mission, 30 beluga whales will be moved from Marineland to a consortium of aquariums around the United States and abroad, which required approvals and cooperation between the governments of Canada and the United States.
The Shedd Aquarium is set to receive four of the whales in Chicago as part of the rescue mission.
