Sheppard represented MultiCare Health System (MultiCare) in connection with its affiliation with Samaritan Health Services, a nonprofit, regional system based in Corvallis, Oregon that comprises five community hospitals, more than 80 physician clinics and multiple health insurance plans (Samaritan). MultiCare and Samaritan executed definitive agreements on November 18, 2025 and closed the affiliation transaction on Nov. 1, 2026, following various governmental review processes.
Under the terms of the affiliation agreement, Samaritan became part of the MultiCare system and MultiCare plans to invest $700 million over the next 10 years to modernize Samaritan hospital facilities, grow primary and specialty care and introduce a variety of new technologies and telehealth capabilities to improve access and patient care.
MultiCare, based in Tacoma, Washington, is a nonprofit system with 13 hospitals, more than 300 primary, urgent, pediatric and specialty care locations and more than 28,000 employees.
