In one of the industry’s most significant healthcare transactions, Sheppard’s Healthcare industry team represented Ascension Health Alliance, the largest Catholic nonprofit health system in the U.S., in its acquisition of ambulatory surgery center (ASC) operator AMSURG.
The acquisition expands Ascension’s network of ASCs to include more than 300 centers nationwide, in a vast network that offers care in gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopedics and other specialties to patients across its national network. This expansion significantly enhances Ascension’s ability to deliver high-quality care in community-based settings and furthers its journey to transform healthcare delivery.
From start to finish, Sheppard guided Ascension on all legal facets of the transaction, providing advice from our transactional, corporate structuring, governance, licensing, regulatory, antitrust, labor, real estate, executive compensation, insurance and tax experts, among many others. This multifaceted, full-service representation highlights the firm’s cohesive, interdisciplinary approach to helping healthcare companies plan and successfully execute their most impactful strategic transactions.
