In an interview with Law360, Sheppard Mullin partner Jeffrey Forrest discussed California Assembly Bill 1287, which was signed into law in October 2023. AB 1287 expands multifamily density bonuses up the income ladder, allowing renters around the media income level to better afford rent.
Forrest drafted the legislation for pro bono client Circulate San Diego and worked with Assembly member David Alvarez to sponsor the bill and navigate its way through the California State Assembly.
