Healthcare Attys Become 'Producers' To Seal Provider Deals

Amanda Zablocki underscores that point: it's also not just about whether a deal closes. Many hospital mergers and partnerships go beyond contracts and dollar signs. “It’s not enough for the deal to be approved. It has to be right for your community. It has to be right for your internal stakeholders, your employees, your workforce," she said. "And it has to be accepted by the public."

That level of complexity is making the healthcare provider space challenging. But that's also what makes these transactions fun and meaningful, Zablocki said.

"It's a more satisfying role for a lawyer to play because we're not just mechanics," she said. "We're coming in as strategists and partners, and it's a different role."
