Harsher Penalties for Contractors who Violate New DEI EO

Federal News Network reported on President Donald Trump’s March 26 executive order, “Addressing DEI Discrimination by Federal Contractors.” The order outlines six new or expanded requirements for federal agencies and contractors, along with seven potential penalties for noncompliance. Contractors may face heightened enforcement, including exposure to False Claims Act litigation and the possibility of suspension or debarment.

In an interview on the podcast “Off the Shelf with Roger Waldron,” Jonathan Aronie, a partner in Sheppard’s Governmental practice group, said that the executive order continues a course the administration has pursued during the past 15 months, and explores steps contractors can take to comply with the new regulations.
