Jared Wachtler advises buyers, sellers, owners, operators, developers, investors, REITs, funds and family offices with commercial real estate transactions nationwide. His practice spans the full lifecycle of commercial real estate acquisition, financing, development, operation and disposition across all commercial real estate sectors.
Jared takes a comprehensive approach to every transaction, identifying potential issues early and working collaboratively to address them. He focuses on getting deals closed while protecting clients' long-term strategic goals. When handling acquisitions and dispositions, Jared negotiates purchase and sale agreements, conducts due diligence and navigates complex closing mechanics. When he represents borrowers, lenders, sponsors or equity investors in debt and equity financings, he drafts and negotiates loan documents, joint venture agreements and other transaction documents. Jared also counsels clients on development and operational matters.
Clients benefit from Jared's experience on all sides of commercial real estate transactions. He presents both sides of legal issues, giving clients measured analysis so they can make informed business decisions. Whether negotiating purchase agreements, financing terms or partnership structures, Jared advocates effectively while maintaining productive working relationships with counsel across the table.
As a member of the firm's AI, Blockchain and FinTech teams, Jared serves as the real estate liaison, advising clients at the intersection of emerging technology and commercial real estate. He monitors market trends and leverages the firm's AI tools to deliver efficient, forward-looking counsel.
Before joining Sheppard, Jared worked his way into large law firm practice through perseverance and effort. He serves on many of the firm’s committees and actively mentors junior associates.
Outside the office, Jared is a die-hard sports fan with interests that run from football and baseball to golf, F1 racing and UFC. He’s always hunting down the best of New York City's restaurant scene. When he's not closing deals or chasing down a reservation, you'll find him unwinding on a beach or deep-diving into the latest podcasts, shows, movies and music. Friends and family know him as the one to call for what to watch, listen to or where to eat next.
